12-30-04 Update: Webcasting now available!

Hi all-

Great news. Some of the telecasts are now repackaged and now available to view on-line, at your leisure. Click here to see them: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/247/ . You can view them, and also download them for free. There is video, and audio-only versions, even MP3. (You can download the MP3's at that site, but need to follow the links to download the other versions, which lead to http://www.247wwjd.com .)

So far, these shows are available:

1. "Tithing" (not a Biblical practice for Christians today, rather the new concept/practice is "stewardship.")

2. "Islam, show 2 of 3" (is terrorism rooted in Islam?). The other (2) on this topic haven't been processed yet.

3. "Christmas 2004" (TV Media attention regarding Christ in the Christmas season)

Coming up next:
-- "Greed, show 2 of 2"
-- "Discussion with a Latter Day Saint (Mormon) about the nature of God"

FGN: 12-20-04 update, 2004 year-end giving

Topics:
1. Giving recommendation
2. Summary of givers to this ministry

Hi all-

Giving recommendation.
It's almost the end of the year. Did you finish your 2004 giving? I wanted to give a recommendation. One of my favorite ministries is Compassion International (click here). Compassion International has been rated very high by independent analysts, as far as charities are conducted.

I think every Christian should sponsor at least one child from a needy part of the world. There are people crying out for the basic necessities in life, and by giving in the name of Christ, you can bring a lot of praise to the Father. Hopefully the love of God will motivate you.

The cost is only $28 per month. You can also send them additional tax-deductible gifts to bless the child's family (a "family gift"). You can also periodically write to the child and develop a relationship with them.

For those who have the money, another interesting option is to by a "forever" sponsorship for $6000. If you do this one-time fee option, you can sponsor a child for as long as you and your descendants live, at no additional charge. For example, if you live another 30 years, you sponsor a kid all that time and make no monthly payments. After you pass on, your kids then inherit the sponsorship, with no charges. Then their kids will pick it up, with no charges, etc., until the Lord returns. So with this package, you and many of your kids can sponsor many kids, for just one upfront fee. As the sponsorship costs go up, you don't need to worry about it. Compassion also likes it, because they can invest the money up front. Our family has one of these (when the price wasn't as high... it goes up every year...)

Summary of givers to this ministry. My ministry began in July 2004. So far, I've had six donors, including myself. This is the percentage of donations by givers:

-- 91%: Bernie Dehler (myself)
-- 4%: Person A.
-- 2%: Person B.
-- 1%: Person C.
-- 1%: Person D.
-- 1%: Person E.

My hope is to be broadly supported in the future, to the extent that I could do this full-time. In January the ministry will be going online at oneplace.com, and that should make a world of difference in impact.

Merry Christmas... and remember to keep the "Christ" in "Christmas"...

Tue. 12-16-04 FreeGoodNews.com E-Letter No. 16

2 Corinthians 11. (Apostle Paul speaking)
But I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “superapostles.”
I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge.
We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.

Contents:
1. Last Show: LDS (Mormonism)
2. Video/audio webhosting is getting much closer!
3. New Ministry (Free Summer Fun)
4. Next Show: Former Catholic Priest, Richard Bennett
5. Tithing, the truth of it (article)

Hi friends-

Last Show: Last Show: LDS (Mormonism), I talked about Mormonism with a practicing Mormon (LDS), Bob Wilson. Check here for the replay schedule. We talked about the nature of God (polytheism vs. the Trinity), among other things. We both also recommended some books for further reading. I wanted to close on some Scripture that we both agree on, but we ran out of time...

Video/audio webhosting is getting much closer! By the end of the week I plan to have the contract signed, and collateral delivered, to be hosted at oneplace.com (where other major ministries broadcast from). Then it should be about 2-3 weeks before my material is available there. This means that by the start of Feb. 2005 we'll be in full-motion. I have a video and some MP3's available now. They may take a long time to download, depending on your connection speed. If interested in seeing/hearing this preliminary data, go to
http://www.247wwjd.com/ (stands for 24/7, Walking With Jesus Daily).

New Ministry (Free Summer Fun). I feel very honored to help this organization grow their ministry. To see what I'm talking about, click here. I'll be hosting their ministry for 501c3 nonprofit status, and working directly with the leadership to help nourish and grow it. Many people, including me, have big dreams for this one. This seems to be put together by God, from what I can tell...For those who may not know, I have a full-time job, and do my ministry on the side. The leaders in this other organization are the same way. One day, I'm sure a few of us will be able to break out into full-time ministry, but that's according to God's time and will.

Next Show: Former Roman Catholic Priest, Richard Bennett. In my next show, in January, I'll be talking with former Priest, and now Evangelical minister, Richard Bennett (website). He'll be sharing his life story, and why he had to leave the Catholic Church when he found the Biblical Gospel. He used to live in the Portland area, and I helped him launch his ministry (on the internet and on TV).

Tithing, the truth of it (article). Personally, I think it's a shame regarding the faulty teaching that Evangelicals give when they are pro-tithing (that's why I did a show on it). I recently ran across an excellent Bible teacher and author (Steve Gregg), who wrote a great article on the truth about tithing. Read it
here (then go to the "articles" section)

Tue. 12-2-04 FreeGoodNews.com E-Letter No. 15

"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
Contents:
1. Last Show: Christmas TV Coverage
2. Next Quarter, Q1'05
3. New Apologetics website
4. Next Show: Mormonism (LDS)
Hi friends-
Last Show: Christmas TV Coverage. I changed my plan for the Christmas show. I decided to talk instead about a media report about how much secular TV time is devoted to Jesus Christ in December (it's the time that Christians celebrate His birth, after all). It turns out that of all Christmas-themed programming, less than 3% deals with Jesus, in either a main or superficial way. You can read the 2002 study here.

I also made a short presentation of the Gospel,
"4 Spiritual Laws" style.

Next Quarter, Q1'05. I will do a new TV format (currently one 30 min. TV show every other week). Every other week I will do (2) 30 min. shows. The first will be on some spiritual topic, interviewing some expert. The second will be a presentation of the Four Spiritual Laws; I'll be presenting the Four Spiritual Laws over and over again... in an effort to demonstrate Christian basics...

New Apologetics website. Please visit it and provide feedback. Click here to view it. The volunteer Webservant is Tim Mainwaring for this project. As we get donations for this specific project, we can develop it further.
Next Show: Mormonism (LDS). Preliminary plans include discussing the top-most three distinctives between Mormonism and Christianity with Robert Wilson, an LDS Practitioner, on 12-15-04. Click here for show times
