FGN: 3-31-05 update: Dr. Hagee's Mess

FYI, I just posted an article showing the excessiveness of Dr. Hagee. It's quite a shame to the Church. We, as believers, need to rise up and demand good stewardship, especially from our Christian leaders!

Article: "Greed: Dr. Hagee, Christianity's Baddest Boy"
http://freegoodnews.blogspot.com/

Snippet:
Here are the distressing facts about Dr. Hagee (a terrible show of lack of stewardship):

1. Dr. Hagee's compensation was over 6x the average (that's 600%)! That's $900,000 for 2002, working an average work week of 16 hrs ($1,081 per hour). This is an IRS violation for excessive compensation.

FGN Update 3-30-05

Hi all, just a quick email,

Update 3-30-05: Click here for an analysis of the 1-20-05 study of executive pay for 27 high profile "media ministries." See the best and worst!

Focus on the Family really shines as one of the best, while Dr. Hagee stands out as one of the obscene worst.

Snippet:
Fourth, I color-coded some of the results to show were the gross violations were, and where the best financially behaved organizations were. Worst:

Global Evangelism Television (2)
Pres. John C. Hagee
$900,000
Multiple: 6.30

Peter Popoff Ministries
Pres. Peter Popoff
$425,019
Multiple: 2.98

New Life Ministries
CEO Stephen Arterburn
$306,012
Multiple: 2.14

Christian Research Institute (3)
Pres. Hank Hanegraaff
$280,331
Multiple: 1.96

Ligonier Ministries
Pres. Robert C. Sproul
$221,576
Multiple: 1.55

The reason these are so bad is because they have high multiples of the industry standard for salary, and have revenues on the low side of the group of 27 (generally, people accept that a higher-revenue organization commands higher compensation).

Dr. Hagee simply stands out because his multiple is simply obscene, regardless of revenue. (Click here to read more about problems with CRI... Hank Hanegraaff).

FreeGoodNews.com Update, 3-27-05

By Bernie Dehler

1. Webcast: "How to be a Great Lover, from A-Z."
2. Next Show (Child Sponsorship)
3. IRS Update
4. Download statistics
5. Final Easter Thought

1. Webcast: "How to be a Great Lover, from A-Z."
Click here to freely view it on the web now. Here's the program description:

How to be a Great Lover, from A-Z
Sunday, March 27, 2005

Our Lord Jesus said that others will know that we are His disciples by our love for one another (John 13:35). Who will teach us how to love? We aren't taught how to love at home, school, or work. Bernie presents an outline on how to be a great lover, with our Lord Jesus as the ultimate example and role-model.
Verse(s):
1 John 4:7-8

2. Next Show (Child Sponsorship)
My next live TV show is Wed. April 6th (click here for the Portland-area TV schedule). I'll be talking about the importance of supporting the ministries that sponsor impoverished children, in the name of Christ. My hope is that each adult or family sponsors at least one child.

3. IRS Update
I'm expecting good news anytime soon. The application is on the fast-track, with an assigned IRS agent. One of the requests from the IRS was to broaden the Board of Directors, which I have done. Click here to meet the Board of FreeGoodNews.com (as well as the Project Leaders). All of those associated with FreeGoodNews.com are volunteers (including me), with zero pay.

4. Download statistics
My videos are hosted at oneplace.com, with other national ministries, since late Dec. 2004. How many people view the video there? It's an average of 33 per day. I also offer free MP3 (audio) downloads. How many download my free MP3's?
The daily average is 25. Wow, I'm very happy with that. I hope the ministry grows, but if this is it, that is also fine!

The main "mother" page for FreeGoodNews.com (the various ministries) has a daily average of 366 hits per day.

5. Final Easter Thought
Everyone has a "fear of death." It's related to the "fear of the unknown." Is there an after-life? What happens to me after I die? Christianity is the only religion that has it's central character (Christ) as someone who has overcome death. Christ died, and rose again, never to die again. Christ promised us the same, to those who believe (1 John 5:12-13).

Do you believe in Christ? Is your faith "alive?" If you're faith is dead, then you are also dead in your sin (James 2:14-26). Take this time to now evaluate your life, and your faith. Contact me if you would like to know more about this.

FGN Update 3-13-05

Hi all, just a quick email,

1. CBE's show now on webcast. (Click here to view.)
2. IRS Update.
3. A good movie to see.

1. THE CBE Interview. There's a theological battle within Evangelic Christianity regarding "gender equality" (click here to read about it; an article by Professor Roland Cap Ehlke of Concordia University Wisconsin). Should women be under authority of man, or should they be totally equal before God? I interviewed Mimi Haddad, the President of CBE, which stands for full equality. Click here to watch the webcast, or listen to the audio. Click here to read more about the historical role of women in the church (magazine article). Click here for more info on CBE.

2. IRS Update. I'm on the verge of getting 501(C)(3) approval. I sent in all my additional requested info, and the agent wants to talk to me. I don't seen any indications of any problems, so it could be real soon.

3. Good movie. Like I said in my last email, there's a good movie to bring your friends to: it's a dramady called "Diary of a mad black woman" (click here for info). It's entertaining. Best yet, it introduces many elements of faith (God, Bible, Jesus, prayer, forgiveness) in a very entertaining and non-threatening way. Let me know if you see it and if you like it; just curious. I've never seem a mainstream secular movie that weaves in as much Christianity..

FGN Update 3-6-05

Webcasts: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/247

Hi all, just a quick email,

1. Good movie to see
2. Board of Directors update
3. Webcasts for this week
4. Feedback (from a major CEO)

1. Good movie. Here's a great movie to bring your friends to: it's a dramady called "Diary of a mad black woman." It's entertaining. Best yet, it introduces many elements of faith (God, Bible, Jesus, prayer, forgiveness) in a very entertaining and non-threatening way.

2. Board of Directors. I heard back from the IRS; I'm close to getting my 501(c)(3) recognition (maybe as soon as this week!). One of the conditions I needed to meet was expanding the Board of Directors. There are now three others on the Board (click here to read about them).

3. This week's webcast. Now playing is my original episode on "Greed in the Church." I point out, by name, some of the popular ministries that have a serious problem with greed, and some that serve as role-models. Among the role-models are Coral Ridge Ministries, Focus on the Family, and NW Medical Teams. Listen to the webcast to hear more about these, and "the bad boys" (click here).

Greed, #1 of 2
Sunday, March 06, 2005
Bernie Dehler shares his opinion about greed in the church at large, today. How different than the early disciples who gave it ALL up for God (Luke 12:33; Luke 18:28; Acts 4:32-35). Some "ministers" need to be reminded that we cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24

4. Feedback from a major CEO. This is in reference to my study of CEO's here (see this and this).

Hello Bernie:

I just visited your site about CEO for nonprofits. As a CEO I know what one should make and I appreciate you bringing to light how much my associates are making. May God always bless your ministry.

Sincerely,
